Suburbia

Japanese sedans glisten
in perfectly-edged driveways.
Black, white silver,
manicured lawns between.

Nearly identical houses
line cutely-named streets.
White, beige or red door;
mailboxes all the same.

Monstrous TV’s hanging
on neutral-colored walls.
Tan, cream, taupe,
the same in every house.

Conformist faces scowl
at different-thinking people.
Black, white or yellow,
they aren’t welcome here.

Good, Christian people
lead holier-than-thou lives.
Selfish, intolerant, mindless,
safe from thought in suburbia.
